Dr. Jaime González is the Chief Business Development Officer of the Health Plan Alliance and has more than 29-years of healthcare industry experience of which 16-years have been in the health insurance sector. In his role, Dr. González oversees the business development activities for the Alliance and collaborates with a variety of industry business partners and vendors to support and sponsor the Alliance’s member-focused educational programming. He also works with these organizations to incorporate their expertise and best practices into the Alliance’s conferences, webinars and other educational programs. Dr. González also oversees the Health Plan Alliance’s multicultural/healthcare equity programming that is being designed to support the Alliance’s member plans in their effort to serve the diverse populations that comprise their respective memberships.
Prior to his role with the Health Plan Alliance, Dr. González was the National Director of Business Development for UnitedHealthcare’s Latino Health Solutions. This division of UnitedHealthcare was designed to support its efforts to serve its Hispanic/Latino membership with bilingual excellence and culturally-relevant health and wellness programs. In that role, Dr. González assisted with the development of a variety of health and wellness programs and services that were especially are designed for UnitedHealthcare’s Hispanic/Latino membership.
Dr. Gonzalez is also the recipient of various professional awards including the U.S. Surgeon General’s Medallion for developing culturally-relevant and bilingual health and wellness resources for UnitedHealthcare’s clients, the National Business Group on Health Innovation in Reducing Health Disparities Award, and was named the first-ever recipient of the UnitedHealthcare Living the Mission Award.
Dr. González is a graduate of the University of North Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health. His dissertation research focused on the health seeking behaviors of Latinos as it relates to their take-up of health insurance coverage. He also holds a Master of Science in Health Administration from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Dr. González is also an alumnus of America’s Health Insurance Plans’ Minority Management Development Program.
Dr. González and his wife, Lucy, live in Ft. Worth, TX, and are actively involved in a variety of civic, community and faith-based organizations. They are parishioners of Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Community in Colleyville where he is a Eucharistic Minister, Reader, and a member of the Social Justice Committee and the Knights of Columbus.
In 2016, Lucy and Jaime, in collaboration with the Ft. Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas/Ft. Worth Chapter, founded the Gloria J. González Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Advancement of Latinos in the Healthcare Professions. Gloria was Jaime’s younger sister who passed away in 1988. Her goal was to become a pediatrician. Today, Jaime and Lucy are helping Gloria’s legacy live on through this scholarship program that is focused on helping to develop more Hispanic/Latino healthcare professionals.
